LYSIT - Natural White Aggregate

LYSIT natural white aggregate is quarried from an Anorthosite rock in Norway. With many uses including asphalt aggregates, concrete, ceramics, and other specialty products.

Anorthosite has a number of unique chemical properties that make the mineral suitable for various industrial purposes, as well as physical properties also make it suitable as aggregate in asphalt and concrete industry.

Asphalt

Much of the product goes to the asphalt industry in Denmark and Germany. The white aggregate is mainly used in the surface course layer of asphalt with good abrasion resistance and durability. The white aggregate provides a natural light- reflection from the road surface. Lysit is the brightest natural stone on the market with the best light-reflecting properties on both dry and wet conditions.

In larger cities the average temperature is often much higher than surrounding areas. This phenomenon is known as UHI - Urban Heat Island and comes as a result of the construction materials we use, particularly road pavements. A dark pavement absorbs the rays and the surface temperature of the road surface rises. Research has shown that light pavements, however, reflect the rays more and the surface temperature is reduced significantly, with reduction of up to 10 degrees C demonstrated on surfaces containing LYSIT.

Concrete

Lysit is used as a light coloured aggregate for the concrete industry for various purposes such as shotcrete in tunnels, kerbs, pedestrian crossings, and polished elements.

Industrial

Anorthosite has a number of unique properties including high alumina content that make the mineral suitable for various industrial applications especially for the ceramics and refractory industries.

Other uses include:
- Mineral wool
- Fiberglass
- Garden Single
- Epoxy flooring
- Worktops
- Decorative surfaces
